For some in-situ Raman characterizations with very high test requirements, the focusing distance will be required to be relatively close. At this time, a detachable L-shaped disc electrode can realize the adjustable distance between the surface material of the working electrode and the quartz plate, and the shortest distance can reach 0.5mm. DekResearch offers two such disc-mounted electrodes, which can be used instead of PEEK platinum electrode clamps. Commonly used are glassy carbon electrodes and gold disk electrodes, and other materials also support customization.

The φ5mm glassy carbon electrode jacket insulation rod is a PEEK rod with a Teflon isolation ring. A Teflon isolation ring is embedded between the PEEK insulation material and the glassy carbon disc. Due to the hydrophobic nature of the Teflon material, the surface tension of the solution increases, which can prevent the solution sample on the electrode surface from spreading to the surroundings to obtain a good electrode surface modification effect.

Choosing φ5mm glassy carbon as the substrate is also considering that more materials can be modified to facilitate the final laser Raman spectroscopy characterization test.

The electrode must be designed as a detachable structure with threaded connection. This facilitates the electrode tip to pass through the working electrode hole through the φ35mm window, so that it can be screwed to the electrode rod and conduct electricity. And make sure that the screw connection after tightening is outside the O-ring to prevent the electrolyte from contacting the connection.
